Three NBA Betting Tips That Will Give You An Edge

In the betting community, NBA wagering is extremely popular amongst sports bettors – this is mainly attributed to the fact that they (the bettor) can be in “action” every night. However, you will suffer “bad beats” and have a life-time of stories to tell about how you lost by a hook (or even won) your bets like no other sport. Think about it – what other sport can you bet on a team to win, and they do so by 20 points looking unbeatable, only to lose by 20 the very next night by a bottom feeder team? As I mentioned, playing every night is what makes it attractive to bettors, but at the same time can be its biggest downfall, and the reason for such inconsistency amongst teams. But, and yes there is a but ” there is some light at the end of the tunnel to produce winners when all else fails. Many things separate a novice gambler from a professional, but I believe if you do your homework and follow the three tips I have listed below, throughout the season and over the long haul you will show a profit from your basketball wagers. LOOK FOR VALUE/AVOID BETTING JUST TO BET There is an old saying to “choose your battles” and the same can be said when wagering on NBA games. Do not bet on every game or even every night! Find your spots and make your play. I believe this is the single most important factor and the difference between winning and losing! Adopt this motto and it will become your biggest asset. Do your homework if you want to give yourself a shot of winning your bets! HOME COURT ADVANTAGE Do not under estimate the value of home court advantage. I don’t care if the Heat are playing the Nets and the Heat are a perennial contender and the Nets are a perennial lottery pick ” if the Nets are at home you will see a different performance then when on the road. Now, does that mean only bet home teams in the NBA? Of course not! But what it does mean is you need to be aware of a team’s home and away performance. Do your homework if you want to give yourself a shot of winning your bets! STREAKS Look at a teams past performances and their consistencty. You cannot select an NBA team to wager on soley for that night. There are other variables that come into play. Perhaps it’s a second game of a back-to-back, or the last game of a six game road trip, or maybe they have won the last three in a row or lost the last three in a row. Don’t get caught betting against a team in the middle of a streak because you didn’t do the right research! Do your homework if you want to give yourself a shot of winning your bets! With these three tips you are not guaranteed that you will win your bets, but I will guarantee if you follow these night in and night out, you will put your self in a much better position than the guy next to you scratching his head wondering how he just lost that bet! In closing, if you are serious about sports betting and making money, and do not do the right things to give yourself a shot of winning, then you are just throwing money away. If you haven’t got my point yet, I will say it again – do your homework if you want to give yourself a shot of winning your bets! Rockets At Lakers Preview: A Bettors Perspective

Betting Line: Houston Rockets (+7) LA Lakers (-7) Over/Under 191 Game Time 10:30 EST Los Angeles, CA ” Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers (3-3) look to make it four straight wins at home on Tuesday night when they play host to the visiting Houston Rockets. Bryant became the sixth player in NBA history to score 28,000 points in Sunday’s 99-90 road loss to the Nuggets, but it was nothing like watching the normal (and at times surreal) Kobe perform. He scored 16 points on 6 for 28 shooting and also turned it over six times. A torn ligament in his right wrist may be the reason Kobe has been struggling with his shot, but you would never know it if you talked to Kobe. “I do what I do,” Bryant, who tore the ligament in his wrist during the preseason, said Monday. “If guys are open, I kick it to them, if they’re not, I shoot it. I play my game.” No one in the Lakers organization, including head coach Mike Brown seem to have a problem with that statement. Mike Brown had this to say: “He’s got to continue to figure out how to stay in rhythm or how to get in rhythm with that wrist. He might not say it, but try to hold a microphone with a torn ligament, let alone shoot it and make sure you get a follow through. That’s a bear. That’s a bear.” Let’s not forget that the Lakers are playing for the fourth time in six nights ” healthy or not ” torn ligament or not ” that is a challenge in itself on this level. Now, moving on to the Rockets. First and foremost wins haven’t come easy for them against the Lakers in LaLa Land or anywhere for that matter. They have lost three straight to the Lakers at Staples Center and nine of the last eleven overall meetings between the teams. It has been the tale of to two Houston Rocket teams. In the early going, Houston has started their season at 2-2, (both wins at home), but even more importantly, ATS they are 2-2 (when they win they cover, when they lose they don’t). At home they are stingy with their defense allowing 84.5 points per game, but on the road thus far, they have allowed 108.5 per game ” a 24-point differential. The Rockets have a lot to deal with emotionally. They need to find a way to get wins on the road, get over the trade (Chris Paul saga) that was not to be, and oh yeah, get accustom to playing without Yao Ming – for good! Unfortunately for the Rockets, I don’t see this being the night when they start to turn the corner and play with a little winning consistency. The Rockets may be one of the few teams that match the Lakers with a turbulent off-season of drama. Given all of factors between the two with this match-up, ultimately, I would have to lay my money on the -7 on the Lakers at home. Trends To Consider: Rockets: The total has gone under in 6 of Houston’s last nine games and they are 1-4 SU their last 5 games when playing the Lakers. Lakers: Los Angeles is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games when playing Houston and 6-1 SU in their last seven games at home when playing Houston.
