For Saturday betting action in the NBA, we will be taking a look at three over/under totals and breaking down each of the matchups, with a free pick at the end of the previews.
Memphis Grizzlies at Chicago Bulls
The Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls are known for their defense, which explains the over/under set at 176 points tonight; but with a low total does this game have a shot at eclipsing the number?
The Grizzlies average 93.4 points per game on offense, while the Bulls are good for 94 per night; and let’s fact it – all signs point to the under in this contest.
However, when the final buzzer sounds, both teams will have combined for more than the 176 point total to go over the number.
Pick: Over 176
Sacramento Kings at Charlotte Bobcats
The Sacramento Kings will be on the road this evening, as they challenge the Charlotte Bobcats in a battle between to lottery bound teams. The total for this game is coming in at 204 1/2 points.
I do not understand the total in this contest, giving that neither team averages more than 96 points per game. Yes, they are two bad defenses that allow opponents to reach the century mark each game, but the fact remains that they both struggle to score at times.
When facing each other six of the last seven meetings have gone over, but tonight that trend changes, as they will fall well below the number in this one.
Pick: Under 204 1/2
Washington Wizards at Los Angeles Clippers
The Wizards have the worst offense in the NBA this season, but the Clippers are among one the best in the league; however, the total of 197 1/2 points might be a little high given how poor the Wizards perform on a nightly basis.
The Wizards have stayed under the total in 23 of their last 32 games played on the road and three of four played on a Saturday. Meanwhile, the Clippers are over in six straight games on a Saturday and four of their last five played at home.
This is a tough call, but in the end, I see this one going over the number, as the Clippers will put up close to 120 points by themselves.
Pick: Over 197 1/2
