The Utah Jazz will be on the road this Friday evening, as they travel to the hot dessert in Arizona for an NBA betting matchup against the Phoenix Suns that is set to take place at the US Airways Center, with tip off scheduled for 9:05 PM EST.
The Oddsmakers are giving a very slight advantage to the home team in this contest, as they have listed the Suns as -1 1/2 point favorites, while setting the over/under total at 196 1/2 points.
Utah comes into this game as a last place team in their division, with a 16-17 straight up record on the year. They are a woeful 6-12-1 against the spread when playing on the road and 6-6 as an underdog. The Jazz own the 11th best offense in the league, as they are good for nearly 99 points per game.
Phoenix is also a last place team in their division, with just a 12-21 straight up record after 33 games played so far this season. They are 7-10 ATS on their home floor and 6-7 when laying the chalk. The Suns are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA, as they are allowing opponents to score 101 points per game, which is ranked 26th in the league.
Utah is 6-14-1 against the spread in their last 21 games played on the road and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 matchups played on a Friday. The Jazz have stayed under the posted total in five of their last seven games against Western Conference opponents.
Phoenix is 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven games played at home and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Suns have stayed under the posted total in 8 of their last 9 home games and five of their last seven when facing a team from the Western Conference.
Obviously, both teams have been struggling, but Phoenix has been playing a bit better lately, not to mention the contest is being played on their home floor, which should give them a boast with the support of their hometown fans. I like the Suns to win and cover the point spread against the Jazz tonight.
Suns -1 1/2
