The Oklahoma City Thunder will be on the road this Sunday evening, January 20, as they travel to Colorado for an NBA betting matchup against the Denver Nuggets that is set to take place at the Pepsi Center, with tip off scheduled for 8:05 PM EST.
The Oddsmakers are giving a slim advantage to the visiting team in this contest, listing the Thunder as -1 point road favorites. Plenty of offense is expected in this game, which explains why the over/under total has been set to 209 points.
Oklahoma City enters play tonight on a six-game winning streak and the best record in the Western Conference, with 32 wins and just 8 losses on the year. OKC is 23-14-3 against the spread this season, including 10-6-2 on the road and 23-12-2 as a favorite. OKC has the best offense in the NBA this season, averaging 105.7 points per game.
Meanwhile, Denver trails the Thunder in the Northwest Division, with 24 wins and 18 losses on the year. Against the spread they are 23-19 overall, 11-7 at home and 7-7 as an underdog. The Nuggets score on average 102.7 points per game, which is good for 5th best in the NBA. Their defense is not nearly as good, as they allow opponents to score 100.4 point per game against them, which is ranked 24th in the league.
OKC is 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games overall and 24-9-3 ATS in their last 36 versus Western Conference opponents. The Thunder have stayed under the posted total in seven of their last ten games played on the road.
Denver is 1-4 ATS in their last five games played at home, but 4-1 against the spread in their last five games played on a Sunday. Four of the Nuggets last five games played at home have gone over the posted total.
Even though this is a home game for the Nuggets and a bitter contest against a division rival team like the Thunder, they will not have enough to beat OKC tonight. The Thunder at -1 is the play to make on this game.
