For today, December 21 we are taking you around the league and providing you with injury updates to some notable points guards, the hottest rumors surfacing and more much in this latest edition of the NBA report.
The Bulls have yet to announce a return date for their superstar guard Derrick Rose. Apparently, Rose has practiced with the Bulls in a non-contact style, but head coach Tom Thibodeau is keeping it hush on the progress. The Bulls are currently in first place in the Central Division with a 14-10 record, but needless to say can use Rose back in the lineup sooner rather than later.
Los Angeles Lakers
Steve Nash is back practicing with the Lakers and could be on the hardwood as early as tomorrow for the matchup against the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers have been struggling all season and hope Nash is the key ingredient that can get them going in the right direction. Los Angeles has won three games in a row, but are still two games below .500 with a 12-14 record.
Believe it or not the Jazz and Raja Bell have yet to agree on a buyout and it seems both sides are getting irritable with the entire situation. When and if the buyout occurs, most in the know expect Bell to sign with the Lakers or Bulls. Reportedly, Bell works out every day and is said to be in game shape and ready to run the floor once he signs on with a new team.
Josh Howard needed an MRI and once the results came in showing a torn ACL, Minnesota cut him loose and waived the 6’7″ veteran. Obviously, Minnesota is now in need of a solid back up player to come off its bench and produce now that Howard is gone. Michael Redd is the name that keeps surfacing for a possible replacement.
The Oklahoma City Thunder had its 12-game winning streak snapped last night at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Los Angeles Clippers now hold the current longest winning streak at 11 games, while the Charlotte Bobcats have lost 13 in a row. The New Orleans Hornets are currently on a nine-game losing streak and have won just five games on the year.
