The season is still young, but tracking team records against the spread is probably a good idea right about now if you are serious about wagering on basketball.
Here are four teams worth keeping an eye on before placing a bet in the NBA this season:
Los Angels Lakers
Now that the Mike Brown era is over in Los Angeles, we can expect many different betting results with the Lakers and new coach Mike D’Antoni. Through seven games, the Lakers have gone over the posted total in four contests, a number that is certain to become more lopsided with D’Antoni at the helm running his “think first” offense.
New York Knicks
With a perfect 4-0 straight up record, 3-0 ATS home record and 1-0 on the road, this is a good time to start betting the Knicks and cashing in on their recent success. They are off to their best start in a long time and I expect the momentum to carry over through at least the rest of November.
The Pistons have started the season to the tune of a woeful 0-8. However, they have covered 4 of their betting matchups. It is safe to say the Pistons will lose a lot of game straight up this season, but be careful when betting against them, as inflated lines can get them a lot of backdoor point spread covers.
Memphis is 5-1 after six games this season, but they are also a stellar 5-1 against the spread, with a 3-0 record at home. Nothing like a team that wins their games and covers the spread in the process. Keep an eye on the Grizzlies as a team to bet on throughout the 2012/13 NBA season.
