Lakers Versus Mavericks Preview
Feb 22nd, 2012 by PJ LaFerla
The Los Angeles Lakers travel to Dallas this Wednesday evening to meet the Mavericks, as they are set to battle it out tonight at the American Airlines Center.
The Lakers own a team record of 19-13 straight up, but are losers against the spread this season at 15-17. Most of this season for the Lakers has been filled with ongoing drama. First, they got screwed out of acquiring Chris Paul by David Stern and the NBA League office, and now a Pau Gasol trade rumor has fueled a bitter Kobe Bryant towards the Lakers front office.
The Mavericks own a team record of 21-12 straight up and have done a fine job covering the spread, posting a 20-13 record. They are currently winners of seven of their last eight games and seem to be clicking on all cylinders.
The Oddsmakers have the Mavericks favored in this game by 4.5 points and have set the total at 180.5.
Below is a break down of some betting trends that are provided to help you before going into action:
The Lakers are 4-1 straight up in their last 5 games, but against the spread on the road they have only managed one cover in their last six outings. Going back 18 game on the road they have covered just 5 times. They have been producing offensively, going over the posted total in four of the last five games.
The Mavericks have beaten the Lakers four of the last 5 games when playing in Dallas. Additionally, the Mavericks are 13-3 straight up their last 16 games at home.
Who To Bet On?
Given the turbulence all season long the Lakers have been dealing with and their poor play on the road, the Mavericks at -4.5 points seems like the wise wager. Add to the fact the Mavericks get the job done at home and the bet becomes even more attractive. I do not see the Mavericks losing this game at home to the Lakers.
Make your play on the Dallas Mavericks to cover the point spread!
