The Cleveland Cavaliers will be on the road this Sunday evening, January 13, as they travel to Hollywood for an NBA betting matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers that is set to take place at the Staples Center, with tip off scheduled for 9:35 PM EST.
The Oddsmakers are giving the advantage to the home team in this contest, as they have listed the Lakers as -7 1/2 point favorites, while posting an over/under total right at 211 points.
Cleveland enters play tonight with an awful record of just 9 straight up wins and 29 losses on the season. However, they have performed exceptionally well against the spread when playing on the road this season, as they have produced a 13-9 record. In the underdog role they have covered the point spread 16 times in 33 chances this season.
Meanwhile, to say the Lakers are struggling would be a huge understatement. They are currently in the middle of a six-game losing streak and now sit well below .500, with 15 straight up wins and 21 losses on the season. They are just 8-11 ATS at home this season and a modest 12-12 when laying the chalk.
Cleveland is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games played on the road, but only 2-5 ATS in their last seven matchups against Western Conference opponents. Eight of Cleveland’s last ten games versus Western Conference opponents have stayed under the posted total.
The Lakers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games played at home, but 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 played on a Sunday. Los Angeles has gone over the posted total in 16 of their last 21 games played on a Sunday.
Cleveland is bad and while the Lakers are desperate for a win, it is by no means a lock for them tonight. In fact, I am siding with the Cavaliers and their +7 1/2 to fall inside the number.
Cavaliers +7 1/2
