The Miami Heat will be on the road this Thursday evening, January 10, as they travel to the state of Oregon for an NBA betting matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers that is set to take place at the Rose Garden, with tip off scheduled for 10:35 PM EST.
The Oddsmakers are giving the advantage to the visiting team in this contest, as they have listed the Heat as -3 point favorites, while setting the over/under total at 196 points.
The Heat come into play tonight with a sensational record of 23 wins and 10 losses on the season. However, we can’t say the same for the ATS numbers. Miami is 16-17 against the spread overall, 5-9 on the road and 15-17 as favorites this season. They shoot a stellar 48.8% from the floor, which is tops in the NBA.
Meanwhile, Portland has won three games in a row and now sit with 19 wins and 15 losses on the season. They are a modest 8-7-1 against the spread at home and 10-11 in the underdog role. Portland has a mediocre offense that scores an average of 97.3 points a night, whicH ranks 12th best in the NBA.
Miami is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games played on a Thursday, but 0-4 against the spread in their last four games played on the road. Miami has stayed under the posted total in 11 of their last 15 games overall.
Portland is 5-1 against the spread in their last six matchups, following a game where they failed to cover the point spread. They have stayed under the posted total in four consecutive games played on a Thursday, but have gone over in 18 of 26 following a straight up win.
Miami at -3 point favorites, even if they are playing this one on the road is a gift against a much weaker Portland team. I expect Miami to win this game by double digits for the straight up win and point spread cover.
