The Cleveland Cavaliers will be on the road this Monday evening, January 7, as they travel to Chi-Town for an NBA betting matchup against the Chicago Bulls that is set to take place at the United Center, with tip off scheduled for 8:05 PM EST. The Oddsmakers are giving a heavy advantage to the home team in this contest, as they have listed Chicago as -8 1/2 point favorites, while setting the over/under total at 186 1/2 points. The Cavaliers have been awful all season, as they have managed just eight straight up wins compared to 27 losses so far this season. Cleveland is much better against the spread, but they still own a losing record, with 15 ATS wins and 20 ATS losses. They are pretty good covering the number on the road, as they are 12-8 in 20 games played away from Quicken Loans Arena. Meanwhile, the Bulls are a very modest 18-13 straight up, but they have been one of the worst teams in the NBA this season against the spread. In fact, they are 11-20 overall and at home they are a dismal 3-14 versus the point spread number. As favorites they haven’t been too much better, going 6-13 in 19 contests laying the chalk. Their stellar defense is 3rd best in the league, as they are holding opponents to fewer than 92 points per game. Betting Trends Cleveland has covered the point spread in four straight games played on the road and four of five versus Eastern Conference opponents. Cleveland has gone over the posted total in seven of their last niine games against teams from the Eastern Conference and six of eight played on a Monday. The Bulls are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall and 0-7 ATS in their last seven games played on a Monday. Chicago has stayed under the posted total in 19 of their last 26 games played at home and 35 of their last 52 games overall. Prediction Chicago needs to figure out a way to not only win at home but also cover the point spread. I believe tonight they will get their fourth ATS win on the year, as they look to turn around their home performance this year.
