The Boston Celtics will be on the road this Saturday night, December 15, as they head to the state of Texas for a betting matchup against the San Antonio Spurs that is set to take place at the AT&T Center, with tip off schedule for 8:35 PM EST.
The Oddsmakers have set the line to the advantage of the home team in this contest, listing the Spurs as a solid -9 1/2 point favorite, while posting the over/under total at 198 points.
The Celtics enter this matchup with a 12-10 straight up record on the season, which is good enough for 3rd place in the Atlantic Division. They have not done to well against the spread this season – especially on the road where they own just a 5-6-1 record versus the number. As an underdog, they are 2-3-2 ATS in seven chances.
The Spurs have lost two in a row, but are still a stellar 18-6 straight up on the season. They are also very good against the spread with a 15-8-1 record, including 5-3-1 at home. When listed as favorites, the Spurs are 14-8-1 this season. San Antonio is the 2nd highest scoring team in the league, dropping nearly 105 points per game.
The Celtics are 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six games played on the road, but 4-0 ATS following a straight up loss.
Boston has stayed under the total in 15 of their last 22 games played on a Saturday.
The Spurs are 34-14-3 ATS in their last 51 games played at home and 5-2-2 in their last 9 versus teams in the Atlantic Division.
They have gone over the posted total in five of their last six games played on a Saturday.
The Spurs have been phenomenal all season and at home they are that much better, but I believe the Celtics will keep this game close and as a result will cover the number.
Celtics +9 1/2
